This book is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I am a wannabe vegan. I have been a vegetarian for five years now. My biggest problem is that I don’t really monitor my diet. I just don’t consume any meat and seafood. I don’t have the patience to make sure that my body gets enough protein. It’s just the way I am… Therefore my hemoglobin and iron levels are horrible. Charcoal Teeth Powder with Sage by Moody Zook

I am usually super cautious when it comes to teeth whitening. So many product will destroy your enamel in no time. I decided to give activated charcoal a try, because it’s made entirely from natural and organic products. No chemicals at all. And also because I remember from my history lessons that this was the original way of brushing teeth back in before A.D. Moody Zook doesn’t recommend using it every day and I agree with them. Better be safe than sorry.

Chiro Doc Seat Cushion

I got this seat cushion to make my desk job less painful :) Chiro Doc seat cushion is very nice. It’s very soft itself, and the fabric that covers it is very soft to the touch. I also like that you can unzip the fabric and wash it without getting any water onto the cushion.

For those who have desk jobs this cushion is a must. I don’t know how I survived before and why I didn’t get it any sooner. I was so excited to receive this item for free/a discounted price in exchange of my honest and unbiased review. I don’t have any back pain after spending a day on top of it.

The fabric is breathable. So even in the hot weather there is no discomfort, i.e. my bum doesn’t sweat on this cushion. Memory foam prevents it from getting flat. Also, I’m not sure how, but it helps me seat more straight. My posture is usually horrible. I always crunch over my keyboard, but with this cushion I sit almost straight.

Mediterranean Diet

I am trying to loose weight without starving myself to death. I'm open to anything: diet pills, anti-cellulite lotions, exercise classes and cool looking diets. I just read Mediterranean Diet book by Daniel Alley. Most of the things that the author recommends are common sense. Everybody knows that in order to lose weight you have to eat healthy and exercise. If you want to stay in good shape permanently you have to make this diet and exercise routine your lifestyle. I’ve been to Greece eight times, love it to death. They are not that skinny by the way, unless we are talking about mountain shepherds. Greeks are chubby people, happy though. You know why? They don’t work nearly as hard as Americans. Do you know how much paid vacation they get? Thirty three days a year. Thirty freaking three. There you go. That’s why they don’t have as many heart and other diseases. You want to adopt Mediterranean lifestyle in the US? You better be rich enough to afford not to work.

As a vegetarian I really appreciated some cool recipes and new ideas. I loved Potato and Chickpea Hash dish, the Avocado Toast and Pasta Fagioli Soup. I would obviously substitute the chicken broth with the vegetable broth. Orange and Olive Oil Cake sounds delicious too. To be honest I don’t understand why one would leave the biggest meal for dinner. Yep, Greeks and Italians do that, but they are not trying to lose weight. They really don’t care that they are chubby. I would either skip dinner or have a small salad or a piece of fruit if I must. A glass of kefir would be fine too. It just doesn’t make any sense to put any food in your body when it wouldn’t have enough time to process the food by the time you have to go to bed.

Frankincense Essential Oil

The 'King' of Oils
Frankincense scent has a special meaning to me. It is frequently used in Christian Orthodox churches. It’s the first thing you smell as soon as you step into the church. I feel quite spiritual whenever I smell Frankincense. Despite that it’s called the King of the Oils for a reason. You can use it for almost anything! Below are my favorite ways to use it:

- Shortness of breath caused by cold or allergy. This is my grandma’s recipe for home-made inhaler. Boil a large pot of water, add twenty drops of the essential oils. You can mix Frankincense with Bergamot or/and Lavender. Cover yourself with a thick blanket and breathe over the steaming pot for 10-15 minutes. You will sweat like a pig and hate me during your inhaling procedure. However instant relief is almost guaranteed.
- Oral health. This is my recipe for home-made mouthwash. Mix a cup of clean water (bottled or preferably distilled, not from the tap) with twenty drops of essential oils. You can mix Frankincense with Peppermint. Use twice a day as your regular mouthwash.
- Menstrual cramps. Boil a small pot of water, add 20 drops of Frankincense essential oil. Dip a small cloth into your mix and put it on your lower tummy. Repeat as necessary throughout the first day f your period when cramps are the worst. You don’t have to boil the mix ever time. You can heat it up in the microwave. If that’s too much maintenance for you just rub a few drops into your lower tummy. The effect won’t be the same, but it is better than nothing.
- Stress relief. Add 20 drops to your bath or 8 drops to your diffuser.
- Eliminate odor. You can add a few drops to your trash can. Frankincense naturally kills bacteria and deodorizes.
- Fight both acne and wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. Dilute 6 drops of Frankincense in an ounce of any unscented oil and apply directly to problem areas.
- Indigestion (constipation, gas, PMS, cramps). Mix 2 drops of Frankincense in 8 ounces of water or in a tablespoon of honey. Take when needed.

Essential Oils & Aromatherapy

I love essential oils! I am not a dummy when it comes to aromatherapy, but not a pro either. I have over twenty different essential oils and mainly use them in diffusers and homemade cosmetic products. I am slowly learning about all the different qualities of the oils I have. I was very excited to come upon the book Essential Oils & Aromatherapy by Daniel Alley

I learned quite a bit from it. I love the smell of peppermint, but did I know that it can act as pain reliever and help me loose some extra pounds. Speaking of losing weight, Daniel Alley gives an excellent tip. I am going to start doing that every morning. I wouldn’t bank on it solely, healthy diet and exercise are still a must. The chapter on blending oils is also very interesting. The author inspired me to create a spreadsheet, and sort my oils by their beneficial qualities. I also liked some blends recipes, especially the one from insomnia.

Easy read, short and sweet, twenty six pages. Very well-structured and informative. I am excited to get more benefits out of my oils.

Speed Reading

I came upon this book by accident. It's called Speed Reading" by Daniel Alley. I definitely learned a lot from it. The author describes several methods of increasing you reading speed. While going through them I realized that I actually like my slow reading. I like reading out loud. There is nothing wrong with slowly enjoying a good book. However I really liked one method, and I am going to try to adopt it in my habits. It’s called Pacing. I’m not going to describe it as author probably did a better job than I would. If you are like me and not in a much of a rush than pay attention to the Pacing chapter.

Other techniques sounded like torture. I did all that when I was at school. I graduated ten years ago and my life got better since then. I would have probably practiced more of the speed reading if I had to read a lot of legal or other boring work related papers. If that is you, this book will help you tremendously.

By the way, this book is short and sweet, only twenty pages. Daniel Alley is straight to the point. I like that.

Oral Thermometer

This is my first oral thermometer. If my parents had this when I was a kid I wouldn’t have skipped school as many times as I managed to. Haha! There is no way you are tricking this little guy. Easy @ Home Thermometer has so many cool functions I couldn’t imagine a thermometer would have. You can choose if you want your temperature to be displayed in Fahrenheit or Celsius. This is very important for our family, as half of us speak Celsius and half of speak Fahrenheit language of temperature. It also has a conversion chart. So if I don’t have to google that if by accident I get my measurement in a weird degree system.

It displays time and date. It memorizes your temperature if it was too high! And it has an alarm clock. I wouldn’t normally pay attention to it. I mean who doesn’t have an alarm in their phone? But I guess there might be a time when it would be handy. Imagine yourself being sick with cold and fever and your phone won’t stop ringing. I would shut that thing down and wouldn’t mind using the alarm in the thermometer if I had to wake up for something.

Easy @ Home Thermometer comes in a hard plastic case. That alone made my life easier. It’s a relief when you don’t have to figure out how and where to store a new item that you got. All the instructions and the temperature chart fit in that case. Oh! I forgot to mention that the battery was already inside and it’s full. So no need to buy anything extra any time soon. Very cool. I feel like my family is prepared for coming winter, fevers and colds.

Car sunshade

I live in the place where summer starts in April and ends in October. So the car sunshade is more a necessity that a bonus. I had chapsticks melt in my car, because I forgot them inside. Just stick the little suction cups through the holes and stick them into your windshield. It does keep the car a little cooler and nothing melts inside it anymore. I have black interior. If I don’t put the sunshade up the steering wheel will burn my hands and the seat will burn my bum. I can finally keep my stuff in the car during summer. Well, no more :) I also like the straps and that it’s easy to put back in the trunk. It doesn’t take too much space. High-quality, durable, looks like it’s going to last forever.

Argan Oil Har Mask

I have extremely fine hair which I chemically dye so regular hair masks and conditioning treatments have been part of my usual hair care regimen. Normally, I use products which contain shea butter but my cousin recently started using argan oil products for both her face and hair which made me curious about their effectiveness.

I tried Argoil Renew Hair Mask immediately after I cleaned my hair without any additional products such as conditioner. The scent is quite nice—actually better than my previous product. It has a rich vanilla scent. The consistency is a bit thicker than conditioner. I massaged it in my hair with special attention given to the ends of my hair which are usually the driest. I left it in for approximately 4-5 minutes.

Here was the moment of truth: initially I had doubts about this product. My other product works almost immediately upon being rinsed. My hair felt heavier and thicker but not particular softer. It actually seemed knottier as I had difficulty combing my hair with my shower comb. As I said, I had serious doubts after I left the shower but figured if worse came to worst, I’d just add hair oil to my hair later.

I let my hair air dry. I have long hair so it took about 2 hours. Once my hair was dry, I saw the full effects of the Argoil Renew Hair Mask. My hair had body but was soft to the touch; any knots came out quickly and painlessly with a minute of light brushing; my hair was shiny without being oily; and, of course, the scent was fantastic—in fact, my spouse complimented me!

So here it goes: Be patient! This product works fantastically but you need to let your hair dry completely before you see the results!

Balaklava is not only for winter sports or pussy riot

I don’t ski, I camp. Now the summer is over and I refuse to stop just because it’s too cold at night. Wearing balaklava at night is not my original idea. I was traveling in Sweden a few years ago and stayed at the famous hotel where everything is made from ice. They provide you with all the gear that you need to have a comfortable and peaceful sleep without catching a cold. Balaklavas were their main equipment. It keeps warm your entire head. You can’t compare it to a hat and a scarf. They’ll slip, turn and will expose your skin to severe colds. The only way balaklava is slipping is with the help of your own hands. It looks funny.. I mean “hey, pussy riot.” If you are not trying to impress your date with hot looks you will survive.

Waist Corset

Oh.. wow! Evebellus waist corset definitely makes me look slimmer than I am. It makes my tummy look completely flat. I gained a LOT of weight after quitting smoking a year ago. I am trying to get back in shape, but in the meantime it would be nice to be able to fit into some of my size 0-2 dresses. I was so excited to receive this item for free/a discounted price in exchange of my honest and unbiased review. Now I don’t really have to buy a bunch of new clothes. I can fit just fine in my old ones.

I wore it for about an hour at home today to see how my body would feel long-term. My ribs and sides started to ache a little after about an hour. It doesn’t shorten your breath or make you feel dizzy, nothing like corsets in the Renaissance Era. Yet I wouldn’t recommend wearing it all day i.e. at work. I would wear it out for a three hour event maximum. I think going to a bar or dinner can be pulled off in this corset without any discomfort.

A hundred of gel pens!

A hundred of colored gel pens? A hundred?! I would have died if I got this pen set when I was a teenager. Well.. who am I kidding? I still jumped like a kid when I opened the package. Gel pens are perfect for coloring small details in the coloring books. There are certain things that pencils and markers are just not good for.

The biggest challenge for me was to hold the pens vertically while coloring. You can’t just relax in bed and color on your knees. You have to either properly seat at a desk or lay down on your stomach. If a pen is in horizontal or diagonal position it will not work. I had to shake one pen over a hundred times trying to make it work in the position I wanted. I had to give up and go to the desk.

This pen set is just wonderful. US Art Supply isn’t lying when saying that there are a hundred of different colors that do not repeat. It really is true. Some of them look exactly the same, but it’s only the color indicator on the plastic cover that covers the gel part. The gels are all different colors. I was highly impressed that someone was able to create such a beautiful variety of colors. There are glitter, neon, pastel and metallic colors in addition to the standard ones.
So pretty!

Dog Bark Collar

All dogs are different. I am stuck with a naughty and very energetic one. I love him to death, don’t get me wrong, but oh my… is he wild! I thought he would mellow out with age and give me a break, but nope. He is four years old and as wild as when he was one. He barks at bikers, skaters, neighbors’ dogs, gardener, mailman. He hates the mailman the most. It is so embarrassing. So I gave up and decided to try the bark collar on him.

I have the highest respect for Our K9 team. They sent me the “How To” guide on the day when I received the collar, and recommended that I watch all their tutorial videos. They were very useful. I tested the shock thingy as was shown on the video, let my dog wear the collar for a day before inserting the batteries. The batteries were included in the package by the way. I thought it was really cool. Nobody includes batteries. They are a weird size, but Our K9 sent me the link where I can get the replacement battery.

Umm.. Anyway, so I did everything I was supposed to do prior to putting the collar to work and went to the back yard to see what would happen. This is where Jack barks the most at the yappy neighbors’ dogs. Not surprisingly a minute after we go out he starts barking. Nothing happens. I tightened his collar and increased the sensitivity. Nothing happened again. I did it again and again and again. I was about to lose my hope. So I tightened the collar to its max. I could only stick my pinky in between the collar and his neck. I increased the sensitivity to its max too. And then it started to work!

Jack barked, and barked, and barked, and his collar beeped, and beeped, and beeped. And then I saw the shock wave going through him. He jumped and swiveled and continued to bark. Then another shock wave hit him. The sight of him whining and running back to the house with his tails between his legs nearly broke my heart. He was panting for the next hour. I was afraid that he was having a heart attack. I took him for a long walk and he seemed to calm down.

It is really the question you need to ask yourself, do you have the capacity of letting your dog be wild, but happy with his life? I am exhausted of suffering the consequences of sleepless nights. I live in a very hot place and I’m sick of sleeping with closed windows, because otherwise he’ll bark all night. Sometimes even closed windows don’t help. If he sees a raccoon in the back yard he’ll be agitated for hours! It is time that he learned that barking and keeping me up at night is not ok.

My only complaint about this bark collar is that it doesn’t work every time Jack barks. He shakes his head a lot and this misplaces the collar even though I tightened it to the max. So every now and then I have to re-adjust it, and then it works again. This is not ideal, but it is so much better than nothing! Last night he slept like an angel, and so did I. My point is that it works. This collar really does work. When the shock wave goes through his body he snaps out of his angry fit and actually comes to me for some comfort and love.
